Your toothbrush
grew on a tree.
Fresh Miswak is a single stick cut from the root of the arak tree. Peel it, chew it, brush. No plastic handle, no toothpaste tube, no tap water — the stick does all three jobs itself.
- Zero plastic, zero waste. One stick replaces roughly 4 plastic brushes and a tube of paste.
- Brush anywhere. Desk, car, tent, plane — no sink required.
- Actually fresh. Dry, cracked sticks taste like cardboard. Ours are sealed within a week of cutting.

The honest comparison
A stick against a stick of plastic
Miswak is not a gimmick or a downgrade. It is the tool a third of the world still uses every morning, and it happens to beat plastic on almost every practical measure.

Sixty seconds to learn
How to use a miswak
If you can peel a banana, you can do this. Most people get the hang of it on the first morning.
Peel 1 cm
Scrape the bark off one end with your fingernail or the included cap. Only peel what you will use.
Chew it soft
Chew the bare end for a minute until the fibres split open into a natural brush head.
Brush
Work in small vertical strokes, tooth by tooth, then along the gum line. Two to three minutes.
Rinse & trim
Rinse the head, store it dry in the case, and snip the frayed tip off every couple of days.

Why ours tastes different
Most miswak sold online is stale
It sits in a warehouse for a year, dries out, and turns bitter and brittle. Freshness is the whole product, so it is the only thing we optimise for.
Root, not branch
Roots hold more moisture and split into finer fibres than cheap branch cuttings. We only cut root wood, 8–10 mm thick.
Sealed in 7 days
Every batch is vacuum-sealed within a week of harvest and stamped with its cutting date. You can read it on the sleeve.
Nothing added
No flavouring, no bleaching, no wax coating. If it smells faintly of mustard and pepper, that is the wood doing its job.

Questions people actually have
What is miswak, exactly?
A teeth-cleaning twig cut from the arak tree, Salvadora persica. It has been used across Arabia, East Africa and South Asia for well over a thousand years, and it is still the daily tool for a large share of the world.
Do I still need toothpaste?
No. The stick cleans mechanically with its own fibres and its own sap. Plenty of people use miswak in the morning and a fluoride paste at night — if fluoride matters to you or your dentist, keep that habit.
How long does one stick last?
Roughly two to three weeks of daily use. You trim the frayed head every couple of days and peel a fresh centimetre, so you are always brushing with new fibres.
What does it taste like?
Sharp, peppery, a little like horseradish or mustard seed. That bite is the sign of a fresh stick. A dull, papery taste means the wood has dried out.
How do I store it?
Rinse the head, shake it dry and keep it in the bamboo case. Do not seal a wet stick in an airtight bag. Unopened sticks keep best in the fridge.
Braces, implants, sensitive gums?
Miswak is a soft-fibre brush, but we are not dentists. If you have braces, implants, gum disease or any dental condition, ask your dentist before switching. Nothing on this page is medical advice.
Shipping and returns?
Tracked EU shipping, dispatched within 24 hours on working days, typically 2–4 days in transit. You have the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, plus our own 30-day money-back guarantee even if you have opened the pack.
How do I pay?
Checkout runs entirely on Stripe. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted. Your details never touch our site.
